# Connection graph

GET https://api.livingbrain.com/v1/brains/{brainId}/graph

Return a renderable subgraph of nodes and edges for visualizing how the brain's pages relate. Use `nodeLimit` to keep the payload small enough to draw.

Reference: https://docs.livingbrain.com/api-reference/workspace/graph

## Authentication

- `x-api-key` header (required) — Your Living Brain API key. Create one from the dashboard; keys are scoped to an organization and carry the role of the member they were issued to.

## Request

### Path parameters

- `brainId` (string, required) — Brain id

### Query parameters

- `nodeLimit` (integer, optional)

## Response

### 200

- `nodes` (list of BrainGraphNodeDto, required) — Pages to draw, capped by the requested node limit.
- `edges` (list of BrainGraphEdgeDto, required) — Connections between the returned nodes.
- `truncated` (boolean, required) — True when eligible pages exceeded the requested node limit

## Errors

### 400 Bad Request Error

Validation failed (e.g. empty title/body, slug already in use)

- `statusCode` (integer, required) — HTTP status code
- `timestamp` (string, required) — ISO timestamp of the failure
- `path` (string, required) — Request path (query string stripped)
- `message` (string, required) — Human-readable error message
- `body` (ErrorResDtoBody, optional) — Original framework exception response when available, e.g. `{ statusCode, message, error }` with per-field validation messages

### 401 Unauthorized Error

Unauthorized

- `statusCode` (integer, required) — HTTP status code
- `timestamp` (string, required) — ISO timestamp of the failure
- `path` (string, required) — Request path (query string stripped)
- `message` (string, required) — Human-readable error message
- `body` (ErrorResDtoBody, optional) — Original framework exception response when available, e.g. `{ statusCode, message, error }` with per-field validation messages

### 404 Not Found Error

Brain, page, change, or connection not found

- `statusCode` (integer, required) — HTTP status code
- `timestamp` (string, required) — ISO timestamp of the failure
- `path` (string, required) — Request path (query string stripped)
- `message` (string, required) — Human-readable error message
- `body` (ErrorResDtoBody, optional) — Original framework exception response when available, e.g. `{ statusCode, message, error }` with per-field validation messages

## Types

### BrainGraphNodeDto

- `id` (string, required) — Page id
- `slug` (string, required) — URL-safe identifier, unique within the brain.
- `title` (string, required) — Human-readable title.
- `bucket` (enum, required, nullable) — Top-level grouping the page belongs to.
  - Allowed values: `inbox`, `notes`, `ideas`, `projects`
- `status` (enum, required) — Lifecycle state. Deprecated and archived items are hidden from listings by default.
  - Allowed values: `active`, `deprecated`, `stale`, `contested`, `archived`
- `pinned` (boolean, required) — Pinned pages rank first in the prompt index and are exempt from deprecation.
- `summary` (string, required) — Short summary, suitable for a tooltip on the node.
- `updatedAt` (string, required) — ISO timestamp

### BrainGraphEdgeDto

- `id` (string, required) — Connection id
- `pageAId` (string, required) — Identifier of the first page in the pair.
- `pageBId` (string, required) — Identifier of the second page in the pair.
- `pageASlug` (string, required) — Slug of the first page in the pair.
- `pageBSlug` (string, required) — Slug of the second page in the pair.
- `pageATitle` (string, required) — Title of the first page in the pair.
- `pageBTitle` (string, required) — Title of the second page in the pair.
- `strength` (enum, required) — How strongly the two nodes are related; use it to weight edge thickness when rendering.
  - Allowed values: `weak`, `medium`, `strong`
- `similarity` (double, required) — Cosine similarity (0-1)
- `reasoning` (string, required) — Model-generated explanation of why these two pages are connected.
- `createdAt` (string, required) — ISO timestamp

### ErrorResDtoBody

Original framework exception response when available, e.g. `{ statusCode, message, error }` with per-field validation messages
